Name of KinderGolfer: Sherman Yap
KinderGolfer since: 2001
“Like most people, we probably associate it with a ‘rich kid’s’ hobby. But before you discount the idea of sending your kids, let me assure you that it is not only an affordable hobby but an enriching one too.
It was in December 2001, that I first came across KinderGolf at an Exhibition Booth at Singapore Expo. My first came across KinderGolf at an Exhibition Booth at Singapore Expo. My first reaction was that it probably going to cost too much to send my son for the program. What more, my son is a down syndrome child with special needs. I thought that it is near impossible for my son to be considered for the program as it takes special skills and attention to train children with special needs. But I am thankful that KinderGolf not only would consider my son for the program but make it affordable for us.
My son, Sherman Yap was 8 years old then when we first enrolled him to the program. It takes much patience and good attitude from the instructor to work with him. I am grateful to his instructor who not only shows kindness and patience but belief in his potential to gain from such training. Truly, my son has benefited much in the program. I could see an improved in his eye co-ordination, his motor skills and social skills. I must also add that there is also an increased in his confidence level as he relates to others. I can see that my son looks forward to his KinderGolf session as it is a ‘play, relaxation and exercise of his muscles’ time for him. Now, our whole family can enjoy a ‘time’ at the golf range as not only daddy gets to play his golf game, everyone in the family can enjoy a ‘time’ at the golf range as not daddy gets to play his golf game, everyone in the family, includes our special son, Sherman can enjoy the time in the golf range.
